- An icon (Greek: εἰκών - image, image, representation) is an image that shows respect for the depicted person (the Lord Jesus Christ, the Virgin Mary, Angels and other saints), and not for the material from which the icon is made. - The goal of this program is to get acquainted with Orthodox miraculous icons, their historical and religious significance for both the Orthodox Church and Orthodox Christians in general, and to understand what role miraculous icons have had and still have today in the Orthodox Church. Of course, it is also to show how much faith, hope and love were placed not only by church dignitaries, but also by ordinary people, as well as by military leaders who relied more on the help and grace of miraculous icons than on their own army, as is the case with the Russian people, such as the icons of the Most Holy Theotokos of Kazan or Vladimir and a number of other miraculous icons.
- There are a great many Orthodox miraculous canonized icons throughout the world to the glory of God, which is why this program is limited.
- The program displays Orthodox miraculous icons from Mount Athos, the Serbian Orthodox Church and some from the Russian Orthodox Church.
